Monuments and temples set their own timings; Ajanta is closed on Mondays and Ellora on Tuesdays. Ferries, boats, entry fees and special darshan passes are paid locally. Ghat roads are slow in the monsoon.
Our representative meets you at Mumbai airport or station for the drive up the expressway into the Sahyadri hills to Lonavala (about 85 km, 2 hours). In the afternoon, see the Tiger's Leap cliff, the Duke's Nose and the Rajmachi viewpoint, and in the monsoon the Bhushi dam overflow. Overnight stay in Lonavala.

After breakfast, visit the Karla caves, with one of the largest Buddhist prayer halls cut in rock in India, and the older Bhaja caves across the valley (entry paid locally; some steps). Afternoon at the Lohagad fort for walkers, or the wax museum and the chikki shops in town. Overnight stay in Lonavala.
Overnight: Lonavala
After a slow breakfast and a stop at the Khandala ghat viewpoint, drive back down to Mumbai (about 85 km) for your onward journey. The tour ends here.
