Monuments and temples set their own timings; Ajanta is closed on Mondays and Ellora on Tuesdays. Ferries, boats, entry fees and special darshan passes are paid locally. Ghat roads are slow in the monsoon.
Our representative meets you at Pune airport or station. Spend the afternoon at the Shaniwar Wada, the fortified mansion of the Peshwas, the rock-cut Pataleshwar cave temple and the Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati, Pune's most loved temple. Overnight stay in Pune.

Drive up to Sinhagad fort (about 35 km), where Tanaji Malusare fell in 1670, for the view and a plate of pithla-bhakri at the top. In the afternoon, visit the Aga Khan Palace, where Gandhiji and Kasturba were held and where her samadhi stands, and the Raja Dinkar Kelkar museum. Overnight stay in Pune.

Drive to Lonavala (about 65 km). Climb to the Bhaja caves, among the oldest Buddhist rock-cut shrines in the Deccan, and watch the sunset from Tiger's Leap. Overnight stay in Lonavala.
Overnight: Lonavala
After breakfast, a stop at the Ekvira Devi temple above the Karla caves, then drive back to Pune (about 65 km) for your onward journey. The tour ends here.
