Char Dham registration with Uttarakhand Tourism is compulsory. The shrines open from about late April or May to October–November. Ponies, palkis, porters and darshan passes are paid locally. Mountain roads can close for landslides; keep a spare day.
Our representative meets you in Rishikesh for the drive into the Yamuna valley to Barkot (about 210 km, 7–8 hours) via Mussoorie and the Kempty falls. Overnight stay in Barkot.

Drive to Janki Chatti (about 45 km) and walk the 6 km path up to Yamunotri (ponies or palkis paid locally). Bathe in the Surya Kund hot spring, cook rice in its water as prasad, and have darshan of Yamuna Devi. Return to Barkot. Overnight stay in Barkot.

Drive to Uttarkashi (about 100 km) on the Bhagirathi. Evening darshan at the Kashi Vishwanath temple of Uttarkashi. Overnight stay in Uttarkashi.

Drive to Gangotri (about 100 km) through Harsil, bathe in the Bhagirathi and have darshan at the Gangotri temple, with a stop at the Gangnani hot spring on the way back. Overnight stay in Uttarkashi.

A long drive via Tehri lake and the Mandakini valley to Guptkashi (about 220 km). Overnight stay in Guptkashi.

Drive to Sonprayag and take the shuttle to Gaurikund, then walk the 16 km path up to Kedarnath (ponies, palkis or porters paid locally). Evening aarti at the Kedarnath Jyotirlinga. Overnight stay at Kedarnath (simple stays).

Early darshan at Kedarnath and the Bhairavnath temple above it, then walk down to Gaurikund and drive to Guptkashi. Overnight stay in Guptkashi.

Drive via Chopta and Joshimath to Badrinath (about 190 km). Bathe in the Tapt Kund and attend the evening aarti at the Badrinath temple. Overnight stay in Badrinath.

Early darshan at Badrinath, then Mana, the last village before Tibet, with the Vyas Gufa and Bhim Pul; drive down to Rudraprayag at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini. Overnight stay in Rudraprayag.

After breakfast, drive down via Devprayag, where the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda join as the Ganga, to Rishikesh (about 140 km). The tour ends here.

Breakfast, as per the package plan: breakfast at your hotel in Barkot, Uttarkashi, Guptkashi, Kedarnath, Guptkashi, Badrinath and Rudraprayag each morning after an overnight stay, so 9 breakfasts (Day 2 to Day 10). Other meals are included only where specifically stated; lunch and dinner are otherwise at your own cost.

Best time: May–June and September–October are the best times for the Char Dham Yatra; the shrines are closed in winter.
Road packages include transfers for the yatra as specified, with pick-up and drop at Haridwar, Dehradun or Delhi; many use a private cab. Kedarnath is reached by trek, pony, palki or helicopter; helicopter tickets are not included in road packages.
