Day 1 — Madurai to Karaikudi
Arrive at Madurai airport or station, where our representative meets you, and drive to Karaikudi (about 90 km), the main town of Chettinad, the homeland of the Nattukottai Chettiar merchant community. Evening in the antique market. Overnight stay in Karaikudi.

Day 2 — Chettinad mansions
Visit the mansions of Kanadukathan, among them the Chettinad Palace seen from outside, with their Burma-teak pillars, Italian marble and courtyards, and a mansion open to visitors (entry paid locally); then the Athangudi workshops where the patterned tiles are still made by hand. Overnight stay in Karaikudi.

Day 3 — Pillaiyarpatti and Chettinad cooking
Visit the rock-cut cave temple of Karpaga Vinayagar at Pillaiyarpatti and the Kundrakudi Murugan temple, and the weavers of Chettinad cotton saris; the evening meal is a Chettinad thali at the hotel. Overnight stay in Karaikudi.

Day 4 — Karaikudi to Madurai
After breakfast, drive back to Madurai, with a stop at the Thirumayam fort, for your onward journey. The tour ends here.
