Your first trip abroad: a document checklist
A first trip abroad is exciting. A simple document check a few weeks before departure avoids last-minute stress.
Passport
Most countries require your passport to be valid for at least six months beyond your return date, with blank pages for stamps. If yours is close to expiry, renew it before applying for visas.
Visa
Check whether you need a visa, an e-visa or a visa on arrival for each country on your route, including transit countries. Apply early; some take several working days. We help arrange tourist visas for our destinations.
Money
Carry some local currency or US dollars, and a forex card or an international debit or credit card. Tell your bank you are travelling so cards are not blocked.
Insurance and health
Buy travel insurance with good medical cover. Carry your medicines in their original packaging with a copy of the prescription.
Phone
Activate international roaming or plan to buy a local SIM or eSIM. Save important numbers, including your travel expert's WhatsApp number.
Copies
Keep copies of your passport, visa, tickets, hotel vouchers and insurance on your phone, in email and on paper, separate from the originals.
