Planning your first family trip to Dubai
Dubai is one of the easiest international trips from India: short flights, good hotels, and plenty for children. Here is how to plan it.
How many nights
Three nights covers the essentials: a city tour with the Burj Khalifa, a desert safari and a dhow cruise. Four nights gives you a relaxed pace with a theme park or beach day. Our Dubai packages run from 2 to 4 nights.
When to go
November to March is the best time, with warm days and pleasant evenings, and it is when most outdoor experiences are at their best. June to September is very hot, often above 40°C, though indoor attractions and hotel deals make summer trips possible.
Visas for Indian travellers
Most Indian passport holders need a UAE visa arranged before travel. Some travellers, such as those holding certain valid US, UK or EU visas or residence permits, may be eligible for a visa on arrival. Rules change, so check the current requirements with the UAE authorities or your airline before booking; we arrange tourist visas for our travellers.
What children enjoy most
- The Burj Khalifa observation deck (our packages include the 124th-floor level).
- A desert safari with dune drive and dinner. Check the minimum age for dune bashing.
- Theme parks such as Dubai Parks and Resorts.
- The Dubai Mall aquarium and fountain show.
- A beach day at JBR or Kite Beach.
Practical tips
Carry light cotton clothes and a layer for strong air-conditioning. Dress modestly at religious sites. Taxis and the metro are easy, but transfers in a package are simpler with small children and luggage.
A 4-night family plan
- Arrive and check in; evening dhow cruise with dinner on Dubai Creek or the Marina.
- Dubai city tour: Jumeirah, the Burj Al Arab viewpoint, the Palm, and the Burj Khalifa observation deck, with the Dubai Mall and the fountain show in the evening.
- Morning at leisure or a theme park; afternoon desert safari with BBQ dinner.
- A day for Dubai Parks and Resorts, a waterpark, or a beach day at JBR.
- Shopping and departure.
Our Dubai packages range from 2 to 4 nights, and the family trip package includes Burj Khalifa tickets.
Where to stay with children
Areas near a metro station make getting around easier. Families often like Downtown (for the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall), Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) for the beach, or Deira and Bur Dubai for value and older Dubai. Ask for family rooms or connecting rooms early, as they are limited in peak season.
Budget tips
- Travel in the shoulder months (October or April) for better hotel rates than December and January.
- Combine attraction tickets in one booking rather than buying them separately at the gate.
- Use the metro for city sightseeing on free days.
- Carry a refillable water bottle; it gets hot even in winter afternoons.
Money and phones
The UAE dirham (AED) is the currency. Cards are accepted almost everywhere, but carry some cash for small purchases. For phones, activate international roaming or buy a local SIM or eSIM on arrival.
